Irish Pensions and Finance

The Inside Story- Ryan Dishman

1.   Tell us about your current role, what does the job entail?

I am currently working as an Assistant Financial Advisor. The job is very rewarding, interacting with clients on a regular basis and managing their overall financial plan.  Ensuring that the client is happy with how their plan is tracking.

2.   How long have you worked in IPF?

I joined IPF in August 2022.

3.   What attracted you to working there?

One of the major attractions of joining IPF was the great opportunity for career progression.  From the outset, IPF advised the huge potential there is within the company to progress further in your career.  With the amazing training provided from the outset, it is clear that the company wants the best for its employees.

4.   Tell us about your average day?

My average day consists of organising my diary for the week ahead, having consultations with clients and ensuring that they are happy with their overall financial plan.  A lot can change from one year to the next for anybody.  This is why at IPF we recommend a review every 12 months to make sure that the client’s plan is still fit for purpose.

5.  What do you enjoy about your job?

I find the job extremely satisfying.  Dealing with various clients from within the public/private sector and providing them with financial advice to help with their objectives and goals.

6.   What are the challenges?

No two people are the same, as we all know.  This also applies to an individual’s financial needs and objectives.  This is a part of the job that is challenging but again very rewarding.  Discovering exactly what the client is after and putting a plan in place.  Giving the client peace of mind, knowing that they have a clear picture and understanding of their financial plan.

7.   Describe the work culture in the company.

The work culture at IPF is fantastic. All of the employees work together as a team.  This applies across all departments, with somebody always willing to help where they can.

8.   What advice would you give to somebody interested in working there?

For somebody interested in working at IPF, I would say that you need to be a hard-working and driven individual.  As well as this, being a great communicator is very important.  Being able to communicate well with a client and building a relationship is essential.

9.   Is there something unique or interesting about your company that you’d like to share with jobseekers (perks, benefits, training, social clubs etc)

For any jobseekers considering a career in financial planning I would highly recommend IPF.  The company has lots to offer from brilliant training, a great work environment, wonderful colleagues and most importantly a fantastic opportunity to work for a company that provides a truly great career path.
